SNKRS

Project Duration: 3 Weeks

Role: UI designer

Platform: IOS

Tools: Figma, Miro, Adobe Photoshop

I was assigned to work with a team and our task was adding a new feature to the SNKRS app. In this new feature, Nike wanted a way for users to interact with other users and show off the sneakers they own.

Please note this is a concept project only. I was not not affiliated with Nike when making this project.

We began with a screening survey and interviewed the users who fit our criteria. After making an affinity map we were able to see some data from our interviewees. Our main finding being most users liked connecting on image based social media; Instagram, snapchat, ect. So we planned to make images the content users would share.

How might we create a platform that allows users to connect with the Sneakerhead community to verify the legitimacy of the products they are purchasing while engaging with other users’ content?”

With the research done, my fellow UI designer and I began laying the groundwork for the prototype. We began with some site flows so we knew what screens we had to make. Then we sketched these screens out. With our sketches in hand we began to work on the mid fidelity prototype. Once we had the mid fidelity prototype done I ran some usability tests and got some great feedback. With that feedback we were able to iterate and then move to our high fidelity prototype.

We created our style guide and then we began work on the high fidelity prototype. I primarily worked on the user profile, including the interests and the closet tabs, and the sneaker verification process. With the design we wanted it to feel open. We accomplished this by using whitespace to give more breathing room to elements.

Final Thoughts

This project was fun to work on with my team. However, I do wish we could have done more user interviews early on, as we were only able to get three. While I believe we were able to create a fun and easy to use product, I do have to wonder if the decisions we made early on could be disproved or backed up if we got more user data so at some point I'd like to go back and maybe run a few more user interviews.
